Throughout MJ's career, she has had the great fortune to work on some truly inspiring projects, such as Jump by Charly Evon Simpson playing the lead role of Fay which she would earn a nomination for the Irene Ryan Award in the Kennedy Center Collegiate Theatre Festival. Her other recent roles include Phoebe in Fan Me With A Brick (also nominated for a First night Award for Best Featured Actress) , Pam I/Pam II in the Audiodrama Farside; TracyAda in Steal Away; Kayla in the short film "Ninety Proof" by Briana Cox; Lillian in Stew, Geedi/Thuy Fan/Hong Feung in Mlima's Tale; Nikki in Chasing Jeremy; and Miss Pat in the Colored Museum. Her musical talents were also highlighted when she played Duane/Jane in Hairspray and TiMoune in Once on This Island. She believes that storytelling is the key to the healing and unity necessary for the advancement of the Black community and human experience.
